Do you feel that husky safaris are always too short? Or when the others are skiing, YOU like to have something else to do?…. In the HUSKY SCHOOL you can be with the huskies the whole day! Here below you can see the program, which is the base of all schools depending on the group and the season. The packet includes also accommodation 3 nights with breakfast and lunch and of couse the 3-day programme (3 x 5-6 h). You can have it also without the accommodation.

DAY 1 [ 10.00 – 15.00] Our guide will pick you up from your hotel. Coming to our huskyfarm in Rukajärvi. First we will watch a husky video about our dogs and then we will take a walk around the farm and meet our dogs. Then it´s time to learn about the equipment; sledges, harness and pulling lines. We will practice the knots you need to know, how to handle the dogs and of course how to harness a dog. Then it´s time to harness the dogs together, riding 5 km 2 person per one team/sledge, one will be the rider standing on the runners and the otherone will be seated in a sledge. In a half way you will change the places. Coming back to farm, giving thanks to the dogs and taking photos. Then unharness the dogs and bring them back to their kennels. We will having a pause and having a warm souplunch by the open fire. After the lunch you can join the routine work at the farm; cleaning the kennels, taking part of the dog feeding group of 200 huskies with the other guides. After the long day transport back to the hotel.

DAY 2   [ 10.00 – 15.00] Our guide will pick you up from your hotel. Coming to our huskyfarm in Rukajärvi. We will repeat all the things we learned yesterday. We will start to make the doggy food ready and take part of the farm work. In the middle of the day we will have our lunch and then we are ready for the 10 km husky ride. After the tour we will together make the fire to the "KOTA" (lean-to shelter) and make a coffee by the open fire. In this day is also possible to take part the dog feeding group. Transport back to the hotel.

 
DAY 3  [ 10.00 – 15.00]  Our guide will pick you up from your hotel. Coming to our huskyfarm in Rukajärvi. Now it´s time for the DAY TRIP with huskies. We will make the teams ready for the 30 km husky tour, also possibility to ride alone if you like. After riding about 20 km, we will take a break at the forrest "kota", where we first tie the dogs to the trees for the pause and then together repair our meal and coffee by the fire.Then riding back to the farm about 14.00. Dogs back to the kennels. Then it´s time to say goodbye to the dogs... At our safarihouse will enjoy hot drinks and you will get A HUSKY CERTIFICATE. Transport back to the hotel.

Also possible to have the whole week program including all the accommodations, meals and extra program; snowshoe hikes, reindeer-farm visit, ice-fishing and/ or snowmoile safari.
