Our Sledgedogs .....

Wilderness Wolf is a company in Kuusamo, Finland and

we arrange husky-safaris in Kuusamo and Ruka. We have now altogether 210 sledgedogs;

siperian- and alaskanhuskies.

So we have 33 huskyteams (6-dog).

The most important things in our company are:

                            1 ) The well-being of our dogs

2 ) The very best quality of our programmes

3 ) To take care of our customers in the best possible way

About half of our dogs have been born in our own dogfarm. Puppies start to train to be sledgedogs , when they are

7 months old. And the age of 1,

they slowly start their job as a sledgedog.

In the summertime they just  rest and eat after a long winter. When the temperature goes under +10 c ,we start the training with wheels. In last autumn we train about 5 weeks with the cart and after that we continue to train with sledge on the snow.

The dogs needs to be taking care of everyday. Our dogs eat once a day, normally in the evening. In the summertime it is very important,  that they have fresh water always available. In the winter they don't drink water, so we make a juicy drink with some fat and dry-food.

Our dogs are eating very good quality dog dryfood, with lotīs of fat and meat in the winter time, when they are working.

There is lots of work with cleaning up the dog-yards, fixing the fences and dog houses. There is always some dogs who want to bite the wood or trying to get thru the fence to see some girls or so...

We arrange the HUSKY SAFARIES here in Kuusamo and Ruka and of course in our two own husky-farms. The trips starts from few kilometres to 5-days safaries.

When you come to the safari, you first meet our guides and we  give you a very good DOG-driving-lesson. After that you meet the dogs. Normally the customers are riding by themselves. If you have a normal balance and you can ride a bike ; then you can handle the dogteam.

We harness 6 dogs and normally there is two people with one dog team; one is driving and the other one is sitting.

It is also possible with extra payment to drive alone ....

so it is more demanding and faster.
